German Bergmäuse Preschool
2025/26 School Year
Bergmäuse Preschool Program School Year 2026/27
We are excited to share an important next step for our German preschool community in Boulder. After successfully completing the licensing process with the City of Boulder, we are expanding our program for the 2026/27 school year. What began as a two-day program on Tuesdays and Thursdays will now grow into a full five-day preschool experience.
Our preschool is German-language focused, and our educators speak German with the children throughout the day. Our goal is to immerse children in the German language while also introducing them to German culture, traditions, songs, and celebrations in an age-appropriate and joyful way.
Beginning in August, our preschool will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, following the official BVSD school calendar. This means we are closed whenever BVSD schools are closed, ensuring alignment with the local public school schedule.
Families may enroll for 2 to 5 days per week, with five days recommended to provide consistency, deeper language immersion, and stronger social connections. As part of our updated program structure, we will no longer provide a snack. Each child should bring their own breakfast and lunch each day.
Since we are still in an early growth phase, we need to remain flexible as we expand. If we do not receive enough enrollment to run the full schedule for the 2026/27 school year, we may adjust and offer fewer days per week. We will communicate any updates as early and transparently as possible.
We are proud of how our preschool has grown and look forward to welcoming both returning and new families as we expand into this next chapter. Please reach out with any questions about enrollment or scheduling.
Registration will open March 2026.
"The Boulder German School preschool program is our family's favorite preschool. The quality of the education and interaction with the students is superb. The children get creative activities, thematic and fun learning, focused attention from the teachers and plenty of outdoor activity time.
Both our three and five-year olds love it! Our three-year-old asks whether it's a German school day every morning... hoping that it is."

““The teacher’s strength, it seemed to me, was her ability to assess the children, both intellectually and emotionally, and to tailor the class accordingly.””
General ideas how to support your child learning German at home:
Learning a language is similar to learning an instrument. The more you practice the better you get. Exposing your child to a foreign language once a week is not enough.
Here are some ideas how to support your child at home:
Communicate with your child. Let your child show you what she/he is doing in class.
Communicate with the teacher. What can we do at home?
Make room in your calendar for an additional 1/2 hour German Fun time a week. Ask you teacher about videos
& other fun material to work on. You could enroll your child in an additional German Online Class
(additional 30' or 45' exposure a week).Volunteer to help in class.
